You Are Not By Yourself: Doing Life Together

Date

Think about the last time you were engrossed in an engaging conversation or the last time your laughter was uncontrollable.

That moment was probably with friends or family during a holiday or an extended break.

God wants you to have more moments like this, and he has a plan to help you get there.

One way is through day-to-day fellowship with Jesus.  But God also encourages us to have ongoing connections with others. Studies confirm our need for human connection, and the Bible teaches us about our need for other people.

“…the pleasantness of a friend springs from their heartfelt advice.” (Proverbs 27:9 NIV)

“If either of them falls down, one can help the other up. But pity anyone who falls and has no one to help them up.” (Ecclesiastes 4:10 NIV)

“And let [the church] consider how we may spur one another on toward love and good deeds, not giving up meeting together, as some are in the habit of doing, but encouraging one another—and all the more as you see the Day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25 NIV)

Spiritual Growth Challenge

This week, we challenge you not to settle for doing life alone.  Instead, take a leap of faith, and pray for meaningful connections in the following areas:

  • Fellowshipping with God
  • Volunteering with Your Community
  • Spending Quality Time with Friends
It is God’s will for you to have joy through fellowship.
