A Short Devotion for Today
The Contentment Approach
Imagine waking up in a place different from your home. You don’t know why you are there, but everything else that matters to you is still a part of your life. It’s not a place of luxury or comfort as you once knew it, but a place that is yet full of peace, and you are confident that God is with you.
This is the ultimate picture of what it means to be content.
In your life, there may be situations that arise that cause you to worry initially. However, if you put pressure on your faith, God will show you that He is taking care of you even still.
Having faith is not just about believing God for extravagance. It’s about believing God, period.
Paul, touches on this point in the Christian lifestyle. In the book of Philippians, Paul said:
“I know what it is to be in need, and I know what it is to have plenty. I have learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want. I can do all this through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:12-13 NIV)
Paul was so secure that he had found the real thing, Jesus, that situations could no longer manipulate his emotions. The state of true contentment.
I challenge you to begin this week with a Contentment Approach. This is the part of your faith that will help you to overcome every temptation you face and keep you focused on the things God wants you to give your attention to in the moment. He has a plan for you.
“So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them. But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” (Matthew 6:31-33 NIV)

Reflection Point
Give yourself space to recenter as you start your day by practicing the skill of being content. Create a list of the things you are grateful for, and thank God for each one. At the end of your list, include one thing you are believing Him for, and ask Him for direction concerning this blessing.

Today's Morning Prayer
“God, I thank you that your plan for my life is good. Your word says that your ways are not our ways and that your thoughts are not our thoughts. As I wait for your answer to my prayers with joy and expectation, I will be content. Thank you for helping me to focus on what is heavenly and allowing me to experience your peace right now. Your love has never failed me. In Jesus’ name; Amen.”
