Understanding The Way to Salvation

To truly understand just how important your life is, take a moment to consider this passage from the book of Psalms written by King David:

Your eyes saw my unformed body;
all the days ordained for me were written in your book
before one of them came to be.” (Psalm 139:16 NIV)

In this verse, God was taking time to assure David that his life was no accident. God had a plan for David before he was even born, and God has a plan for you.

You may be saying, “you don’t know what I’ve done…,” or perhaps you feel like you’ve already been very successful at life. Let me tell you that God isn’t like mankind.  He doesn’t have a sin or success meter.  He wants you to know that his love for you is so deep, he sacrificed his only son to make a way of salvation for you.

The hope of this salvation is what allows us to live a new life full of purpose beyond our darkest days and beyond our favor with people!

What must I do to be saved?

We are saved by accepting Jesus.  It’s that simple.

When God sent Jesus here as a man, he gained many followers, healed them, and taught them the truth from God about life. Most of these people were not prominent in religious circles and many were still committing sins, like persecuting other Christians and partying, heavy.

Near the end of Jesus’ work on earth, he fulfilled the purpose for his life by providing a way of salvation for all future generations.

Say this simple prayer to accept Jesus with me.

“God, I know that my sins have cost me a lot, and that some of them have hurt other people. No sacrifice that I can make is enough, so I thank you for being the ultimate sacrifice in my place. I believe that you died for me and that God raised you from the dead. I accept you as my Lord and I accept my new life in you.  Please direct me the right way every day going forward.   In Jesus’ name, Amen.”

While everything still looks the same on the outside, the work that God just did inside of you is unmatched.  You are saved. No earthly blessing can compare. No relationship can compare.  No car can compare.  No extra zeros on your paycheck can compare.  The ex that you thought was the best thing that ever happened to you can’t compare.

When you accepted Jesus, God gave you a re-start, and now he is going to help you to live a better life.  That’s how important you are to him.

Why did Jesus do this?  He did it for you.

In fact, your life was his reason for coming. That’s what makes him more than just a prophet and a teacher.  His death and resurrection means he’s also the Savior; a Savior that can transform your entire life.

The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I [Jesus] have come that they may have life, and have it to the full. (John 10:10 NIV)

So, make no mistake, God really loves you.  You are special to him, and you are supposed to live the life he created you for.

Just as Jesus was raised from the dead, God wants to raise us as his children and give us a new way of living. A way of life we can be confident about. One full of power and promises.

It’s time to get off the road to despair and see life in a new way.  It’s time to see God’s love for you for what it really is.

And, rest assured. God’s love for you is something that no one will ever be able to take from you.

How much does God love me?

Romans 5:7-10 NLT

“Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son.”
