Prophecy, Decisions, and God’s Plan Coming Together

Date

Have you ever received a message that was bittersweet? Something like a text from your best friend letting you know she’ll be in town on the day of your grandma’s birthday.  You can imagine the good time you both will have reminiscing and enjoying brunch.  But you also know you’ll have to miss one of these special moments to make the other. You have a choice to make.

Noah from the Bible also had to make an important choice.  He received a message from God that the earth would soon be flooded and destroyed.  Awful news.  However, there was a saving grace for Noah in that message that depended on his obedience.

No matter what you have heard the past few months about future judgments or the possibility of famines and war, there is a saving grace for you.  God doesn’t send prophecy without giving his people a plan.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not treat prophecies with contempt but test them all; hold on to what is good.”

(1 Thessalonians 5:16-21 NIV)

Psalms 91 and Psalm 23 outline an agreement with God that we should keep on our hearts as we start the week.  And with frequent prayer, we can know exactly what God wants us to do.
