Praying for Better Days

How do I pray to God for better days?

“Weeping may stay for the night, but rejoicing comes in the morning.”

Psalm 30:5 NIV

There was a time when I used to pray general prayers…a traditional way of acknowledging The Man Upstairs

But then, I realized that I did not have to settle for life as it came to me.  I could pray for better days and live to see them.

We know from the Bible that God can certainly answer our prayers.  However, we also play a part.

Ephesians 3:20 says, “Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us…” (NIV)

Pause.

What did the scripture say enables God to answer our prayers?  His power working inside of us is what enables him.

Seeking God’s heart consistently, reading his word, and building our spirits by using other tongues are incredible ways to get God’s power stirring within us.  

And when we live a life surrendered to God, he will be sure to answer our prayers, giving us hope that soars just like he did for Elijah.

The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with. 

Elijah, for instance, human just like us, prayed hard that it wouldn’t rain, and it didn’t—not a drop for three and a half years. Then he prayed that it would rain, and it did. The showers came and everything started growing again.James 5:16b-18 MSG

REFLECTION

Start this week spending time with God by meditating on scripture and singing praises.  Then, open your heart for God to guide you to a place of hope and strength through prayer.
