Jesus Is

Date

On Christmas Day, over 2 billion Christians celebrate Jesus’ birth around the world. That is an amazing statistic.

Most of us grew up celebrating Jesus’ birth but didn’t know what made it so special.  After all, his salvation was a work that he did in his adulthood.

I challenge you today to re-examine Jesus’ birth through this scripture, and celebrate it in a whole new way:

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. (Isaiah 9:6 NIV)

This was a prophecy given nearly 600 years before Jesus’ birth. He fulfilled it and will continue to fulfill it for the rest of our lives.

A wonderful counselor when we need direction. A God who is mighty enough to do miracles in our desperate need. An everlasting Father that doesn’t disown us when we mess up. And the Prince of Peace who eases our minds in times of frustration.

To know Jesus would be born and fulfill all these purposes is definitely a reason to break out some bells and whistles!

May you and your family have a very joyous Christmas week as we celebrate the birth of our Savior.
