Fill in the blank. It’s not Thanksgiving without the ____.
If you said Sweet Potato Pie, you’re absolutely right. But seriously, everyone has a favorite dish, dessert, or side that absolutely makes or breaks the meal.
In the same way, it’s safe to say that it’s not Thanksgiving without the… Thanks! I’m sure you have a list of things you’d like to thank God for this season.
One thing God also loves is when we show gratitude to others. It’s a way of demonstrating love. This is our “Gratitude Latitude.”
Throughout the scriptures, God tells us that loving others is at the forefront of his heart. One that stands out is in the gospel of John:
“A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.” (John 13:34-35 NIV)
The top of the week holds lots of opportunity. Let’s prepare ourselves with a thankful heart toward God and to those who didn’t have to care for us, didn’t have to call us, and didn’t have to support us, but they did.
Spiritual Growth Challenge
Join us in this week’s love challenge by sending a text or making a quick call to say thank you to others. Right now, stop and put a reminder in your phone; one for each day this week, with the name of a different person who has impacted your life, inspired you, or prayed for you. You are going to bless them more than you know.
