When I was younger, I was selected for a position that required me to have an office and mentor others my age. For the duration of that job, I was asked at least once a week, “How did you get this job?” I remember pointing up because that was the truth. God gave me that job. I needed the money, so I prayed for it and set my faith towards it.
Looking back, I know that part of the reason he gave me that job was to share with people what God could do indeed. It was for his glory.
The concept of not being a stereotypical candidate is not so hard to grasp when you think about Kings and Queens who inherit thrones at young ages, like King Josiah. He became a king at age eight! (When you have time this week, you can read his story in 2 Kings, chapters 22 and 23.)
However, sometimes we still wonder if we could make an impact in the world for Jesus based upon our own judgment of our gifts, ethnicity, and age.
Can I resolve for you that God doesn’t discriminate? He is an equal-opportunity employer who will give a job to whoever has the heart to work for him.
Before you do anything else today, pray and ask the King of Kings for a position. God opens doors of opportunity and has good works assigned for you to do.
“You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you so that you might go and bear fruit—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.” (John 15:16 NIV)
