In The Meantime

Date

Sometimes, we can’t wait to arrive at a place where things are perfect. Yet, after we reach this place, we are looking for the next big thing.

That’s why we must learn to enjoy the process. But what many of us don’t realize, is that we are already fans of the process.

Think about it. Most of us find the weeks before Christmas pretty exciting. We pretend that we’ll be a ‘new level of happy’ on Christmas Day, but the truth is we were tickled the moment we started putting out the decorations.

We enjoyed brainstorming gift ideas for others, and we sipped our cocoa or specialty coffee drinks with delight. And some of us started earlier than that. (I’m no stranger to sneaking in a Christmas song or two before December.)

What are we doing? We’re preparing for a celebration. We know it’s coming, and we’re encouraging ourselves as we make preparations. How awesome!

This is something that we can do all year round. As we wait for God’s promise to rapture us into our glorious future with him, we can face our days with bravery. We can embrace God’s comfort, and we can be a tremendous vessel of blessing on the earth using what God put inside of us.

“Men of Galilee,” they said, ‘why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!’ ” (Acts 1:11 NLT)

“And I am certain that God, who began the good work within you, will continue his work until it is finally finished on the day when Christ Jesus returns.” (Philippians 1:6 NLT)
