Physical and Spiritual Healing
Typically, I can dodge the “fall beast” altogether, but this year was different. I wasn’t ready.
My cold started as a sneeze, but a few days later I had muscle aches and a scratchy throat. By the end of the week and a much-needed doctor’s visit, it was determined that I had not one virus, but two viruses plus acute bronchitis!
I was down for two weeks. I lay around for a while wondering when healing would happen for me. Then, God showed me there was something I could do with the strength I had, even though it didn’t feel like I had much.
He told me I needed to unpurse my lips and laugh. So I laughed as I remembered how He rescued me from the drama of the past I thought had more impact than it wound up having. And I laughed at the thought of the future as I imagined all of the good times to come. It was healing, as good as medicine, just like the Bible says.
God has a plan for your healing too. Sometimes incidents in our lives start out like colds. They show up without an invitation and throw off our normal flow. However, we can live a life of power, knowing that God will teach us how to strengthen ourselves with his Word before the season arrives.
And even when we forget, or are still in the process of developing resilience, God has a plan to nurse us back to health when we do divert. He wants us to experience a good life after mistakes, after divorce, and after sickness. He is for us.
“If God is for us, who can be against us?” (Romans 8:31 NIV)
