Emergency Relief

Date

Care packages sent to deployed soldiers.

New presents wrapped in pretty ribbons for orphans at Christmas.

Warm shelters opened for the homeless during cold winters.

These are all examples of emergency relief.  Relief from circumstances that can cause anyone to feel hopeless. I thank God for compassion and charity.

We may not be presently living in any of these circumstances, but God also has emergency relief for us.  When we feel lonely, upset, and discouraged, we can look to be rescued to keep our spirits lifted and our hearts hopeful. God has a plan to rescue us from our bad moods.  

Instead of allowing our situation to determine our next move, we should consider choosing God’s strategy for peace. It doesn’t require much; only our choice.  

We can choose to trade negativity for good thoughts; remembering what God has done, and finding out more about the good life He has planned for us.

“Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things.” (Philippians 4:8 NIV)
