Taxation without Representation was one burden American colonies faced before being freed from British rule. It was an unfair deal.
This week, we are excited to celebrate freedom, but many still feel marginalized and underrepresented. It’s the unpredictable product of many variables in this world’s system.
However, we can look to Jesus right now, and get encouraged. He has another system in place that gives us even greater freedom. This freedom is our emancipation from the oppressive cycle of sin, addictions, and its consequences.
And when we follow after God’s Spirit daily, he empowers us with grace to choose our actions wisely, so that we can remain free and inherit the kingdom of God.
“For sin shall no longer be your master, because you are not under the law, but under grace.” (Romans 6:14, NIV)
“Those who are victorious will inherit all this, and I will be their God and they will be my children.” (Revelation 21:7, NIV)
As you enjoy the festivities this week, also take time to remember the freedom Jesus purchased for you with his life.
– How good did it feel when you became free from your area of struggle?
– What song keeps you uplifted and stirs your faith?
– What gift does God want you to use to celebrate your freedom and encourage freedom in others?
“You, my brothers and sisters, were called to be free. But do not use your freedom to indulge the flesh; rather, serve one another humbly in love.” (Galatians 5:13, NIV)
